Marrawah Law was appointed Indigenous Cultural Compliance Advisor (ICCA) for Telstra. Telstra had provided an enforceable undertaking to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (the ACCC) under section 87B of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (CCA) (the Undertaking). The Undertaking required that Telstra appoint an ICCA to:
- Conduct a risk assessment of the implementation of the updated compliance program actions to identify and assess any obligations under the ACL that Telstra was at risk of breaching as a result of the manner in which these Actions have been implemented.
- Provide recommendations for actions to be taken by Telstra having regard to this assessment and ensure appropriate governance was in place.
- Feedback received from Telstra included that the work was ‘impressive’ and ‘robust, valuable work’.
